Not enough turnaround time usually a minimum of 5 minutes required to couple and prep cabs.
I have seen this in the morning where a three replaces a six car and the six car just goes into the reverser at Liv Cen and follows the service train out to Kirkdale . Is the 1535 from Orm a busy service ?
Yeah it reaches Maghull at the time a few local schools let out, generally full up from then on.
Was on the 13:13 formed of 508143 (haven't seen this unit for ages!!) from Southport and got on at Hightown and alighted at Sandhills to catch the 13:55 Ormskirk service formed of 507015.
Both were great units but 508143's service was packed with all ages having to stand up, plus this service was very slow and was 4 minutes late. But on the other hand 507015's journey was fantastic and nice. On the way back both 508117 and 508115's journeys back were also excellent. Seen MPV DR98902/52 on it's duty between Maghull and Town Green.

Traincrew for both units and paths for a start
I was under the impression that there were plently of spare crew sitting around the depots? And there is not enough slack in the paths to allow a train to follow seven minutes behind?
The first two trains for ormskirk leaving liverpool at 06:10 and 06:40 where both cancelled this morning the 06:10 train had suffered a failure but no explanation was given for the cancellation of the 06:40.
0555 Liverpool Cen-Kirkby was a failure at Sandhills - this unit later forms the 0640 to Ormskirk.

Nope, there's a few spare turns& standby turns. More often than not all are used to cover annual leave, long term/short term sickness. You'd be amazed how few staff are around sometimes!!
Outside of the core sections there may be space for extra services. However once in the underground sections sections slotting any extra services in only delays existing services. For example stand at Liverpool Central at peak times!
There has been some delays to services on the Chester line today caused by operating restrictions imposed on Platform 7 and Exceptional Rail Head Conditions , delays of around 10 minutes being common place today.
507002 is running with 508111 as a 6 car on the ormskirk line this morning the two advertising liveried units together first time ive seen this.
Hi MX12CFE, do you know which service they were running so I can work out if they will stay together for this afternoon's peak?
