6-cars on the Chester line are subject to restrictions due to power supply issues around Capenhurst since trains increased to 4tph.

Basically, when 2 x 6-cars attempt to draw power between Chester & Capenhurst, it can cause electrical problems, which lead to delays, which, on the Chester line lead to cancellations because of the short turnaround.

Even with the recent Chester race meetings the service was three cars , I dont know whether its the more frequent chester services but them seem less inclined to run 6 car services these days.

Wasnt there a problem with the power also on the section between Bache and Chester North Junction which caused some signalling problems .

Yes, a Track Circuit fails and causes 1 or 2 signals to revert to red (danger). The position of the signal usually means the train cannot stop in time and causes a Category B SPAD.
Was at moorfields this morning waiting for the first train to ormskirk while coming down the escalator from the ticket office there was a strong burning smell and when sitting on the platform the air was hazy and smoky and could still smell burning trains were running normally though and there was no fire alarm activation or announcements any idea what was causing it?
On Friday 6th / Saturday 7th / Sunday 8th July trains will now terminate and start @ James Street. A shuttle bus will be in operation between James St and St Georges Hall.

MX12 might be coming from outside or the works at Central

I was told it was either a pot or rubbish fire that had gone out by the time the early turn station staff had booked on.

There was two early morning pot fires on the Wirral Line one between Moorfields and James st and the other near to Liverpool Central near enough at the same time .

These insulation pots dont seem to have a very long shelf life underground these days , the ones above ground seem to get air cooled hence the longer life .

A lot of ceramic ones are being replaced by plastic ones, particularly on the Underground sections.
