507014 has joined 507030 on overhaul this week
Dead Owl got it's head stuck in the southern ended coupler on the northern line. has it been removed and cleaned off?
The 508's down south that were rumored to have a future up in Merseyside have finally met their fate and the 508/3's are in the process of being scrapped. The first to go was the centre car from ex MR 508121

Could they be stripped of any still useable parts for merseyrails 507/8s while being scrapped or have they already been cannibalised? A sad shame they did not make it back up to merseyrail i know of a few 3 car workings that could have benefitted from being 6 cars. RIP 508s.
If you have a look at the Eastleigh Works website all usable parts are salvaged for possible further use during the scrapping process and retained.
MX12 CFE The unit was 508114 which I stupidly forgot to mention.
The thing is any extra six cars incur a higher track access charge and who is going to pay that charge , Merseyrail or Merseytravel. Merseyrail are only operating what Merseytravel want dont forget this is not a franchise as such but a concession , there is a slight difference.
Access charges haven't been mentioned when additional six cars have been added to the network in the past (e.g. the two extra PM peak SP-HX pairs in around 2007/08 or six cars on New Brighton/E. Port on December Sundays).
It is sad that the 508s are being scrapped when such potential for further use has always existed here on Merseyside. The expression that springs to mind is 'looking a gift horse in the mouth'.
