Change to Hunts Cross and Southport services Saturday 1st September 2012
Due to a signalling fault between Brunswick and Liverpool Central there will be a change to the service on the Hunts Cross and Southport Line on this Saturday morning to allow engineers to carry out repairs.
Buses will be replace trains between Moorfields and Hunts Cross and vice versa from start of service until the 08.06 service from Hunts Cross to Southport and the 06.58 service from Southport (07.40 service from Moorfields) to Hunts Cross.
Heard a rumour 507 002 may be next train to have new livery!
It does seem to be taking a bit of time to reappear in passenger service , I can not believe it hasnt seen a passenger service in anger since on or before 30 June 2009.
If Merseyrail were not desperate for units this would have been withdrawn , on a different question wouldnt it have been more cost effective to take one of the units that are present off lease get it up to standard and refurbish it then give it back its previous id as a 508 that probably would have been quicker.

At least 4 of the "spare" 508s down at Eastleigh appear to have been vandalised judging by a few pictures I've seen from so called "urban explorers".
I don't know how long they've been like that though.

Advertising livery is the suggestion perhaps?
The 508s at Eastleigh have had graffiti sprayed on them for years, first applied during their time in store at Chart Leacon, Ashford. Only the Connex-liveried ones are like that though, those in Southeastern and Silverlink colours not being affected.

One of them looked semi fire damaged to me! Could be severe flashover I suppose.

You are right but off the top of my head which educational establishment it is im not entirely sure about .
