Merseyrail want to re-open Birkenhead Central shed but the cost of taking down the shed (as it's unsafe) is far to high. The price I hear Network Rail wanted was disgraceful.
There is talk of it re-opening when the new fleet comes in tho.
If birkenhead central could ever be reopened it would take the risk out of some of the wirral services that presently come from kirkdale getting stuck there if there ever was some major disruption on the northern line .
Rock Ferry and Hooton could then be used as emergency stabling then.
508128, 508131 and 508134 have all been significantly graffitied during the last week.
507010 has had most of its graffiti removed now (there is still some on the front end) and it has severely damaged the yellow side of the bodywork. The new livery isn't going to look good for long if this carries on!
A further unit in the new livery is 507014, with 508123 the next one.
508134 another victim of the tagging frenzy we are seeing at the moment. 508123 seen today sat outside Birkenhead North depot in new livery and also bearing nameplates with the name "William Roscoe". I wonder if they will refit 507016's nameplates and the other named units?
I have been wondering when they would fit this Hamilton Square refurbishment in , it looks like they have done it when the Summer Season has died off so as not to affect the Tourist potential for the ferries. Hopefully even though they have not really given an end date that Easter 2015 is what there working towards to have Hamilton Square back up and running.
Then comes the complicated refurbishment of Moorfields , which looking at the size of the station could take a while to be completed in 2015/6

Ham Square is due to re-open on Friday 27th March 2015.

Any unit that has had stick on names will be getting yellow plates once they have been re-vinyled.
Any idea of the replacement bus operator yet ?
Nice to see another unit being named. You'd bank on the Red Rum, Bob Paisley, Dixie Dean and John Peel names making a return with yellow plates, but I wonder if they'll bring back the long 10 years one 507016 had or the long-lost Cllr George Howard name? The Capital of Culture name seems unlikely to come back.
