Merseyrail are currently advising passengers to avoid travelling by train after 4pm today due to snow affecting the northern and wirral lines and tomorrow a 30 minute train service will be in operation on all lines.

My prediction is a 3-car 30 min service to kick off with, and around lunchtime services back to normal timetable.
North Wales on the other hand...
Half-hourly service all day according to the Merseyrail website. They will have to be 6 cars on the Northern Line at least unless conditions are a complete blizzard. Loadings will demand it.
I don't think people understand that 6 car workings are useful in these weather conditions as the shoe gear on the front unit clears the third rail for the rear unit.
I believe that was why services were formed up of 6 cars today.
Units on the West Kirby line today were
508138+508120
508110+507005
507002+508127

Travelled on 508117/507033 on the Ellesmere Port service yesterday.
A couple of great 6 cars on the Southport line this evening in the form of 507001 + 507009 and 507003 + 507006, plus 507017 + 508117. Also noted working the 17.13 Liverpool Central - Southport was 508111.
507014 is the latest unit to have its missing 'M' logos patched up, but they've missed one of the small ones. Units like this and a number of others desperately need a full exterior revinyl as they are not making a good impression.
507002 has appeared regularly on the west kirby line since Friday.
Capacity will be stretched for grand national this year
