Saw this displayed on the board at maghull yesterday evening do merseyrail have a shortage of units at the moment?
There was a line problem yesterday afternoon on the Ormskirk line which probably prevented the 6 car from forming. This pair is formed by running a 3 car ECS from Kirkdale to Ormskirk to couple with a service train, and couldn't do so with the line blocked.

Is there a reason for the train coupling up at Ormskirk , rather than at the Liverpool end of the route .
This evenings West Kirby 6 car formation is another pair of consecutively numbered units. 508136 and 508137. Don't think I've ever seen these 2 run together before!

Not enough turnaround time usually a minimum of 5 minutes required to couple and prep cabs.

I believe it was actually a coupler fault on 508124, units would not couple at Ormskirk
When a coupler fault occurs is there something stopping them from running two three cars, 7 and a half minutes apart?

Traincrew for both units and paths for a start

I have seen this in the morning where a three replaces a six car and the six car just goes into the reverser at Liv Cen and follows the service train out to Kirkdale . Is the 1535 from Orm a busy service ?
