piece in tonights echo about central with picture looks a lot better concourse by ticket hall is opened up and more light coming in from glazing, toilet must be getting moved somewhere else
I went through on a hunts cross bound train last night and the train sounded its horn when passing through central then i spotted maintenance workers on the southport bound track just inside the tunnel south of central they were inspecting the points between the reversing siding and main track they were having to use torches as the tunnel lighting was not on.
The northern line escalator facing the lift at central has now been completely stripped you can see right into the machine room underneath it from passing hunts cross boud trains looks fascinating down there!
Its amazing what you can do with a bit of money and imagination .

Liverpool Central's Northern Line platforms where getting close to design capacity at certain times of the day , I do wonder though how long it will be before more capacity is required again at Liverpool Central.
i think it will be a while yet all the underground stations need a facelift that brown plastic is very out dated i'm glad central gets done first as it bad around tea time everyday u couldn't move on the platform at times i just wondering are they extending the walls next to the tracks so more room again
There was disruption on the ormskirk line earlier this morning due to trespassers on the track in the maghull area trains were starting anmd terminating at aintree the police had their helicopter out i could see it from where i work at edgehill university ormskirk normal service resumed at midday.

Notable work:
24/02/2013 - 1 day - Hooton SB closed and control transferred to Chester PSB
21/04/2013 until 21/08/2013 - 4 months - Liverpool Lime Street (Low Level) Closed for refurbishment
2013 looks to be a bit busier in the engineering work stakes than 2012 has been .

The one im more concerned about is Hooton resignalling , signalling work is always fraught with dangers , we all saw what happened with the IECC at sandhills when it was introduced on the Wirral line , the service was utterly devastated until they came up with a plan to replace TC's with axle counters , never mind the fact that James Street PSB worked perfectly with TC's around the loop.
james street refurb within a week must not need a lot

Those turnbacks at Birkenhead Central / Birkenhead North are at the end of the refurbishment , that will have been going on a while by then .
