Over the last few days units have been suffering weather related problems , not helped by being in the leaf fall season , today there has been numerous short formations of normal six car formations . This could be a problem until the end of the leaf fall season.
A full complement of six cars on the Ormskirk line today due to racing at Aintree. One of the formations included 508111 which now has a 'The Beatles' nameplate atop the blue livery. Does anyone know the date this was fitted, please?
507003 and 507030 were the units used on a Hallowe'en Special from Moorfields to Southport today.
508137 is the latest unit to receive the new livery, while I believe 508138 is the unit in currently.
New liveried 507001 is on the Ormskirk line this morning running as a 6 car with 507002. First time ive seen it since it was reliveried looks very smart.

Unfortunately 507001 and 507002 didn't stay together for evening peak. They split and 507002 ended up doing the 17.13 Central - Southport while 507001 joined 508123 for PM peak duties.
508110 is now back in service from its overhaul, while 508143 is the latest for re-livery following 508138.
Services on the Ormskirk line were disrupted for a time yesterday due to a train failure at Maghull. The train had been switching tracks and had failed on the points just south of the station ending up blocking both tracks. Anyone know the unit involved? An Ormskirk bound service could be seen beyond the failed unit waiting at a signal this service ended up being cancelled.
507012 is the unit presently being re-liveried and based on recent sightings 508114 is in for overhaul.
A couple of units seem to have been laid up out of service for several days. 507010 is parked in the back sidings at Kirkdale although it was wheel turned on Tuesday, while 508136 is at New Brighton. I assume these are awaiting repairs of some sort.
Tracks were a bit slippery first thing this morning was waiting at Maghull for the 06:32 to Ormskirk and 508103 came in on the 06:30 to liverpool and as it went to stop its wheels locked up and skidded.
The braking system on the 507/8 is meant to engage and release and then re-engage if it encounters wheelslip to prevent too much damage to the wheelsets , much like ABS braking on a car.
I have noticed in recent weeks that the Southport line services are becoming quite erratic particulary in the evening peak with delays and short forming .
