It will be a close call whether we’ll have enough units, the 777s should start to go into service in December or early January. It’ll be a case of one out, one in after that!

Have talks with drivers commenced yet? December still seems slightly optimistic.

Yes, talks have started
Quite surprised to see today all usual peak 6 cars and extra peak services (on the Chester/Ellesmere Port line) in use today, given the bank holiday.
These usually do not run on Bank Holidays.
Any particular reason why today?

It was a central decision to run a normal Monday service across all tocs including merseyrail. No idea why.
Reported on another group 508140 is into its last few days.
Does anyone know the defect with this unit?

508140 was in Birkenhead North for a floor defect, but unfortunately has now been withdrawn. It will be towed away for scrap on Sunday or Monday after various parts for use elsewhere have been removed

Any idea what date was its last day in passenger service and on what line?
Are floor defects a common fault amongst the fleet - between the carriages perhaps?

Its last day in passenger service was Mon 12th Sept working on the Ormskirk line

Yes, after 45 years of service corrosion of any part of them is quite common.
