507028 ran the three car Chester diagram instead of 507002 and 507032 which, according to Realtime Trains, never made it into service at all.

One of the Southport - Liverpool Central and one of the Ellesmere Port workings were also formed down to three cars during the day following various problems. Everything else was six car today.

There will only be two extra trains running , one will be running to Hooton , the other one to Southport .

The Hooton service will depart Liverpool Central 0125 and will call ONLY at Birkenhead Central , Bebington , Bromborough and Hooton .

The Southport service will depart Liverpool Central 0130 and will call ONLY at Waterloo , Formby and Southport.

Anyone know which units were used on these extra trains? Thanks.

There were also two of the six Chester formations operating as six cars. Tonight's extra Chester should be 507012 + 507018 according to timings Realtime Trains.

Any ideas why 508137 is in again given it has already been recently overhauled? The next unit to be re-liveried is 508130 I think. (Either that or 507026.)

You're partly right about 508137 - it was in Birkenhead North last Aug/Sept for a few weeks, but it was in for modifications and body repairs, not for C3/C4 overhauls, hence that's why its in at present. HTH
Due to a problem with lineside equipment at Chester services between Hooton and Chester are presently suspended , a rail replacement bus service is in operation .

This lineside equipment failure is also affecting services to Holyhead and Wrexham as well.
Services restored to Chester now.
All Southport line services were formed of 6 cars yesterday (21/06) in the glorious sunshine. Should be the same again today with 6 cars on the Chester line as well in connection with a cycling event.

508130 is now in the new livery and was stabled at Kirkdale yesterday with the next recipient by process of elimination one of 507015, 507025, 508138 or 508143.

507025 it is!
In a recent article there was talk of 30 new stations , to be honest there is really now only room for two stations more on the electric network .

Maghull North , filling that gap north of Maghull Station and probably relieving the station of Maghull of some of its passengers .

Headbolt Lane , on an extension of the Kirkby service further along the single track . If this one makes it any further come on Merseytravel do think of a better name , its sounds like something out of a Dracula movie.
I disagree. Room for a station at the bottom of Mill House Lane in Moreton to place a station between Moreton and Meols on the existing electric track.

Whilst Also room for stations on the. Beechwood, Prenton and to Upgrade Heswall on the Wrexham Line.. electrify the line up to the border. Beyond all the way to Wrexham would be good but for now just too Heswall.
Maghull north is definatly needed i live near to the existing station at Maghull and at peak hour it is absolutely chronic with all the cars coming out of the car park which causes problems for the 5/231/232/233/234 circular buses which cannot make the tight turn into the station when the cars are coming out so the new north station would certainly remove some of this congestion. Presumably the new station will have its own car park and the Maghull circular buses would be revised to serve both stations.
