The scary thing is that Merseyrail management (and MPTE staff), are now making out that Liverpool Central is soooo "futuristic" and "amazing"... and the "we're the best" philosophy. One of MR managers commented to my manager that they now had the best Underground station in the UK... and they only wanted the very best staff to work there.... hmmm :/ sure...
That sort of positivity in the rail industry usually comes from people in denial... or who have managers who are! The sad thing is that Lpool Central platforms won't be touched for another 30 years, bar a few signalling alterations in 2020.
the wirrial line ain't that big a problem it the northern line that has the worst issue u cannot move half the time on there it still a health and safety hazard moving cupboard still won't solved the overcrowding issue extending upstairs doesn't help either if merseyrail really gave a damm about it and there customers why not plow more money into it
Because money don't grow on trees...
Think that one thing that will have to be done in the long term at liverpool Central Northern Line but will include a full closure of the line Brunswick to Moorfields is the removal of the island platform to be replaced by a more conventional arrangement of 3 platform faces , two main platform faces facing one another where the island platform now is and a bay platform on the other side of the Hunts Cross platform .
This would cost many hundreds of ££££ millions .
And I'm sure it would wick everyone off after the 6 months closure.
Lets see we all seem to think that the refurbishment of the Northern Line platforms was a waste of money.
If that £20 million (or a portion of it) was available for bringing some of the spare 508s back to Merseyside, the Southport - Hunts Cross line could have finally been converted back to all day 6 car operation. As a result, people would be able to use the full length of the platform much more easily, reducing the crowding at the narrowest section of platform between the escalators.
Saturdays appear to be causing the most concern, and they wouldn't need any additional stock to run 6 cars here beyond the summer. Nothing ever gets done, so it seems like an own goal if the overcrowding at Central is really as bad as is made out.
Havent they tried to move where three car trains stop prior to the refurbishment away from the narrower section of the platform .
Chester Line Disruption 16:20.
Due to a track fault in the chester area, services between bache & chester and vice versa have been suspended.a rail replacement bus service is now in operation calling stations bache to chester.more information will be braodcast as soon as it becomes available
One of the first times i have seen Chester services terminate at Bache .
its the second time i know of merseyrail trains terminating at bache, the first was when the chester enterprise center went up in flames in december 2010.
