Since the omission of Bromborough Rake and Green Lane the Chester service has become more reliable.
The real question everyone wants answers for is how long this alteration will be for.
The new 777 units have better acceleration and braking capability.
I should imagine the alteration will stay in place till the 777s are running on the Chester services. The 507/8s have been struggling to keep time lately on that route. But now down to 55 serviceable units…….for a short time, anyway!

Actually soon to be only 54 units. 508143 won't be returning and is soon to be joined by 508140.

508140 may not last the week unless it gets a time extension

With credit to a post on the Mersey Railways group on Facebook 508143 is already at Newport docks for scrapping, the bodywork on it is apparently rotten and 508140 is to be withdrawn imminently.

508140 was working on the Ormskirk line today.
The destination display at the Ormskirk end wasn't working and looked as if it had been removed, but the Liverpool end destination display appeared to be working.
777001/008 are being moved from Crewe to Kirkdale tonight, hauled by 4 class 20s top and tailed
Forgive me if already mentioned but when will the first 777s enter serive with the 507/8s down to 54 units they'll run out of units soon.
