They have been reported as making it around the 175 route without issue. As I reported the other day, the MPDs are leaving Birkenhead imminently.
So they are seeing which routes might benefit from the one solo that isnt on the 175 , the 487 wasnt one of the routes that i would have put on that list.

Nor would I to be fair. The Solos would be ideally suited to routes like the 409, 411, 492 and 495 given the loads they seem to attract. Perhaps certain boards on the 403/413 as well.
Well I presume that's the first ever Solo on a cross river route! However I can confirm their use on the 175 as I've been on 669 on that route.
With only 1 needed for the 175, the other is usually a spare bus in the depot. 669 was spare yesterday until it went out on the 118/9 last night. Not great for 670 on the 487 though as Cadets are too small for this route. Stick to the 409/92/95. Also noticed that Pulsars are operating the 411 lately, good move as the Cadets seem to be too small in recent weeks especially on sunny days!

I agree with this! I had 2906 and 3002 on there on Wednesday, 2906 from Birkenhead to Seacombe and 3002 from New Brighton to Birkenhead, and the additional capacity was justified on both journeys!
Seen last night at about 17:00 was about 3 of Birkenhead's Geminis dropping kids and parent's off in the depot after being used on a Private Hire.
As for the Solos I can think of a couple of boards on 418/419 that could warrant them
If you try to put them on the 418/9 , then you would have to look closely whether the boards coincided with school let out phase en route as a solo would very rapidly fill up and that isn't good for intending passengers .
Agree that the 409 , 492 or 495 could be the routes that the spare solo may go on.

I've been on the 409 this week. Both times it was a cadet and full! Maybe this was a blip but if not then Arriva should look at increasing the frequency.
Every 487 after midday is always packed. Clearly a Decker cannot be used but what about a part-way journey to say Bebington or Clatterbridge Alternating every 15 mins.
I also think Arriva should not use the same route numbers for part journeys eg 410 to either Woodside or Clatterbridge
Gemini 4203 is on 471/472 today.
