That's true, I was on a Cadet yesterday on the 492, it was either 2441 or 2442 (can't remember which one) I noticed every time the driver put the brakes on all the lights would go off along with the destination displays. I noticed it at first when I pulled it over and as soon as the driver put the brakes on the pull in to the bus stop the front led turned itself off, when I was on board the bus I could see the reflection of the side display going off every time the brakes went on

Lights going off when breaking is common on a number of the cadets, not heard about the destinations doing it too though!
The 492/5 I presume is also used for buses due their 21 day safety inspections, so they can easily get completed inspections out on the road in exchange for the next one outside the depot. I know Stagecoach birkenhead usually put the buses that are due inspections on schools so they can get them in and done with ease so I'd imagine it's similar here as arriva always seem to have very little off the road at any one time
