It seems that most depots go through a cycle of being short on the normal vehicles used on the routes , an odd single decker mingled in with double deckers will be ok , but you wouldnt want a few of them in a row , now that passengers are used to the double deckers that will start up some complaints.

That's how it goes if there's no deckers available. Surely a single decker is better than no bus at all?

A single decker is ok as i said intermingled in a high frequency service like the 437 with double deckers , but put a few of them on that service in a row and you will stir up a hornets nest , probably also will cause a few issues on the New Brighton - Liverpool 432 and 433 service it inter works with .
The 437 and 432/3 are probably the best of bad lot if they are short of Double Deckers.
With the Stagecoach Gold Double Decker vehicles on the 471/2 its not good publicly to have Arriva single deckers now on the 471/2

Again if there aren't any deckers available and a "row" of single deckers is used to make up the allocation then it's better than nothing at all
Ideally there should be spare single and double deckers available but that isn't always possible
Cant they use the Pool fleet based at Birkenhead?
A post a few of you may have been waiting for. The following buses are stored in Laird street - 4200 / 4201 / 4202 / 4203 / 4205 / 4206 / 4207 / 4208 / 4166 (in use) / 4172 / 4173 (in use) / 4175 / 4179 / 4181 / 2465 / 2470 / 2473 / 2705 / 2713 / 2723 / 2803.
We all know that 4204 is also here still in service. 2460 (christmas Myllennium) is also still here.
4201 / 4202 / 4206 / 4208 look to be leaving for scrap very soon.
At least 3 single deckers on 437 today including 2545 while 4511 and one other, plus 4514 and 4515 on 410/1

Never do understand the mind boggling allocation policy that Arriva seem to use for there highest profile routes 432/3 and 437.
The only thing they seem to be able to do is guarantee double deckers on the 407 LOL , because of the QBP on its linked route the 471/2.
Thats odd then considering that a few days, possibly a week ago I saw 3004 on the 472 heswall bound then about an hour or so later the same bus was on the 407.
There have been many instances over the last few weeks at least of single deck vehicles on the 407/472 & the 437/432 routes.
