I would be very concerned if 10 EcoCitys replaced about 30 Cadets...! The EcoCitys are (strangely) replacing the remaining amount of the 09-plated Pulsar 2s and whatever else is surplus (it'd be common sense if Cadet X419 AJA [2419] and Marshall V642 DVU [7642] were the other two subjects - well, after all, it'd be common sense to keep the Pulsar 2s...!).
As established earlier, 7642 is a long term absentee from the service fleet and with projections for the Marshall's demise this year, it is unlikely the vehicle will make a return.

Exactly - so would it not be fair to say that its replacement will be one of the EcoCitys? Therefore, I'd say that they'll also replace the eight Pulsar 2s and, considering that Runcorn always seem to be short of buses, nothing else - but, if so, Cadet X419 AJA (2419).
It has already been reported elsewhere that the Pulsars and two Cadets will be moving on once the MANs are in service. If Wythenshawe is the intended destination for the Cadets, then one would assume two of the 55-plates will join several of their sisters at that depot.

Thanks mate, it is indeed a grim future for old 7642!
2419 and 7642 are P&P cover remember, however with very few Cadets left to P&P, 2419 in theory is due to depart in the coming weeks anyway. However Id imagine we may see them reside in Runcorn til at least mid march as its inevitable teething problems will be had with the MANs.

...hence why I'm thinking that the eight Pulsar 2s may be accompanied by 2419 and the tenth departure from the fleet will be 7642 instead of two Cadets.

P&P cover buses are on top of the depot's normal requirement though, so with up to two being away at any one time for refurbishment, up to two extra buses are needed as cover. At the moment, Runcorn have 2419 and 7642 for this reason, while Speke have/had 3313 and 3332. As K853 says, once the Cadets are completed, these two will move elsewhere or leave the fleet altogether as is likely to be the case with 7642. Nothing will be required to replace this pair. Common sense would dictate 2419 joining its classmates at Birkenhead, but that's not always the case in the bus industry.

Thank you for that mate, summed up what I was trying to say quite nicely :-) apologies for any confusion I caused!

Of course! Sorry - didn't think of that! Hammer

No confusion at all! Just wanted to clarify the situation really.

It will be interesting to see if a couple of the 55-plate Cadets are held back to be transferred away in unrefurbished condition. At least one of those which has been given P&P (2527 possibly) has not received the 'Connextion' branding so this potentially could mean something.
