Wow, these buses are working local service in Runcorn and Widnes as much as they are on airport service. This is going to cause a stir.
5012/5016 are the latest with luggage racks.
Reliability is going to be fun after the changes on Sunday, the 14.23, X1 alone i caught today from Runcorn East arrived just after 14.55, about 35 minutes late, & arrived in Liverpool One around 15.55, & the next X1 was running 15 late as well.

Much needed too, as it doesn't take much for the X1 to be delayed, which then has a knock on effect on other X1 departures.

When the new 500 commences operation tomorrow it will make the X1 disruption seem like a minor delay, I fear. Many years ago, all cross city routes within Liverpool were curtailed to operate to the city centre because it was found impossible to maintain a timetable so how Arriva expects a key 'local' service between Runcorn and Liverpool on a 30-minute frequency to keep to time is beyond me. I shall follow proceedings on the Arriva real-time map with interest.
Boarded an 82A (3139) in Ditton around 1545 yesterday. 3 pushchairs and a wheelchair user in the designated bays. Had to have a little smile to myself.

Even now the 82A can be quite unreliable at the best of times, i've seen buses running 10 or more late as it is, the 500 is going to be fun when it's running late & rammed, at least Airport passengers to/from City Centre have an alternative in 80A/86A, then add in that buses on the 500 will be back to single decks with less seats because of the low bridges on the Runcorn Busway, & it's going to be more fun when buses on the Liverpool-Widnes section are rammed.
