its not just withy grove oxford rd is affecting 41+2 x city services plus mancunian way being shut a lot more cars using deansgate and other routes basically mcr city centre = nightmare for a while
And yes it was worse during this evenings rush hour as even about 18:00 tonight it was taking about 40mins just to exit Manchester via John Dalton Street, I was on 17:58 Stagecoach 32 from Piccadilly and while it had left on time by 18:40 it hadn't even reached Salford Central Station
Lancs United breaking down near that Mc Donalds by Portland Street did not help matters this evening either
Must have been some traffic problems this morning on Withy Grove, as First were tweeting that the 8s were terminating at Blackfriars Bridge and then heading out via Chapel Street.
Withy Grove is closed for the next couple of weeks for Metrolink 2nd City Crossing works and its causing mayhem with roadworks also started on Trinity Way near the arena, at times its taking about 20mins+ just to head from Shudehill down to the bottom of Trinity Way and the same on the return journey
First are now diverting services until 2000 every day until 30 August:
- 8 - Buses from Bolton will run normal route until Deansgate, then turn left onto Blackfriars Bridge, where service terminates. Service will then start from Blackfriars Bridge then turn left onto Chapel Street before resuming normal route near Salford Central station.
- 18 - Buses towards MRI will run normal route. Buses from MRI will run from Piccadilly Gardens via full length of Lever Street then Great Ancoats Street, Oldham Road, Thompson Street, Rochdale Road then as normal route. This means service 18 will not call at Shudehill Interchange towards Langley.
- 42 - CrossConnect services towards North Manchester General Hospital and Middleton will run from Piccadilly Gardens via full length of Lever Street then Great Ancoats Street, Swan Street, Miller Street, Cheetham Hill Road then as normal route. All journeys towards East Didsbury will run as normal.
- 67/100 - Normal route into Manchester until Blackfriars Bridge, where service terminates. Service starts from Blackfriars Bridge and runs via Deansgate, Victoria Bridge Street, Chapel Street then as normal route.
- 81/162/163 - Buses will run from Piccadilly Gardens via full length of Lever Street then Great Ancoats Street, Oldham Road, Thompson Street, Rochdale Road then as normal route. Buses heading to Piccadilly Gardens will run via Thompson Street, Oldham Road and Oldham Street.
- 93/110 - Normal route into Manchester until Blackfriars Bridge, where service terminates. Service starts from Blackfriars Bridge and runs via Deansgate, Victoria Bridge Street, Chapel Street, Blackfriars Road then as normal route.
- 97/98 - Normal route into Manchester until Blackfriars Bridge then Deansgate where service terminates opposite Harvey Nichols. Service starts from Deansgate and runs via Victoria Bridge Street, Chapel Street, Blackfriars Road then as normal route.
- 135 - Buses toward Manchester will run via Angel Street, Addington Street, Oldham Road and Oldham Street.
First say that a limited service on the 67 and 100 will continue on to Shudehill Interchange. TfGM says that a limited services on the 67, 93, 100 and 110 will continue to Shudehill Interchange.

Spotted an unusual sight this afternoon, which was an Enviro400 (think it was something like 33831) on Oldham Street with '135 Manchester' displayed. Wasn't aware of an Enviro400 being transferred over to Bury depot.

It could be a loan, Bury always seem to be short.

This is a poor state of affairs overall though, particularly regarding the closure of Withy Grove. Was this planned, or is it emergency works.
The works were planned. I believe it is to do with the Metrolink second city crossing. Just a case of bad timing with the expected Mancunian Way closure.

I too have heard this, also that they will be going into storage at Summercourt (old Western Greyhound Depot).
