Do you have any sources to suggest they run tenders at a loss to keep competition away?
Anyhow most bus territories are run by monopolies, look at Stockport, which is a Stageocach territory. It appears hard to create direct competition except for tenders.
Good news for people in Bolton, as the promotional fares on some services have been extended until the end of July.
The promotional fares are:
*£8 weekly ticket and £4 child weekly tickets on the 519
*£1.50 single fare and 75p child fare between Bolton and Breightmet/Withins on services 471, 510, 536, 561/562

Also noticed on the Save with First page on the First website that the X34 ticket range is also valid on the 26 too in addition to the Stagecoach X34 journeys.

Olympian out on the 409 today, certainly a contrast to all the Enviros on the route.
If there is a First Manchester driver on the forum can you please PM me. I wish to ask you something. Thanks

Saw 2 Darts on the 17 today, what is going on?
Not having a go here Polo Mint, but are you sure it was 2 Darts that you saw on 17? Only QS haven't got any Dennis Darts allocated, just wondering whether it could have been either one of the remaining Wright Crusader B6s or Volvo B10BLEs
I don't know why I said Dart, pretty sure they were B10's. Probably too used to calling old vehicles Darts.
It wasn't the same one I saw later on either, one didn't have an electronic display and the other did.
