I was informed, as to the reason, the repainted B9s from Bury Depot. Have large numbered fleet numbers as opposed to the Oldham and Bolton counterparts. The answer is at the time of repaints, the little numbers hadn't arrived as they are ordered on a bus by bus basis, and they just didn't arrive. The little white numbers are standard spec across the whole of the first group, and all future repaints, it will be the little white numbers always.
That sounds odd that they're ordering in the numbers. If they're just adhesive vinyl, I'd have thought they'd have the facilities to create them on demand in the paint shop - my secondary school did (not for buses I should add!).

Well I thought that its very odd as well, apparantly the vinyl f and all the other stickers are ordered on a bus by bus basis as well. So at the point of repaint if no stickers have arrived, the bus goes out not complete. Very strange procedures that are used these days.
just one change this week that staff shuttle bus 90441 has moved from Wigan to Bury
Well on the subject of repaints I just saw Bury Depot B9 37295 looking amazing with the correct little Fleet number in white letters just below the desti, where it's supposed to be. And full Greater Manchester Branding. Hats off to the painters at Oldham and Bolton. Very impressive work
