the way the 39 went around much easier way

It means that if the service is running late it will be straight in and out and no need to go round the turning circle at the back of the concourse .

I can't see a saving of more than 1 or 2 minutes here.

I can vouch for Stagecoach here. That few minutes can be vital, especially when a bus is already running a few minutes late. Whilst people are alighting, the driver can change the ETM and destination unit ready for boarding passengers. (It also saves a bit of dead mileage!)
That's a fairly tight turn from Meols Dr into Bridge Rd...

There is tighter turns on the bus network than turning from Meols Drive into Bridge Street , im almost certain Stagecoach will have done there homework before the change to ensure that the longest single decker they have could get round that corner

In the heady days of pre 'elf n safety' society numerous Crosville Nationals probably made that turn.. Bit trickier nowadays..

Impera's Pulsar 2 demonstrator managed that turn with no major issues on a regular basis!

I would be interested to see if there is enough passengers willing to travel in the period after Christmas to keep this service every 20 mins , particulary in the winter months , it would be a useful tourism boost for Cheshire Oaks and chester Zoo in the summer months , if we get a summer that is .

Imagine meeting the 437 coming the other way on the bridge!
