So Widnes Commercial Motors Ltd won't be running the 150 - I wonder how this error came about.
Perhaps after gaining the contract they backed out of the work , if that is the case i do wonder whether Merseytravel will award WCM a contract again .
Apparently the correct answer is that they don't have sufficient vehicles (see Cunfybus thread). It didn't seem ideal in the first place given the dead mileage distance.

But the question to be asked though is why tender for a contract knowing they didnt have the vehicles , Merseytravel have much better things to think about after the Impera closure.
Perhaps they intended to source a vehicle then deemed to do so and operate the contract non-viable? I agree it would seem likely it'll mark their record as far as future contracts are concerned.
If they were going to bid for it, they should have made sure that they had the vehicle in the first place, I think merseytravel should maybe be more careful about to whom they give contracts.
WCM are a bit... unusual, their only current bus service (as far as I am aware) is the 13. This had a timetable reduction once the 26/A came into force where the last service from Widnes is now 15:16ish.
WCM have also previously bought buses, such as the 2x Ex-First Chester Rail Link Optare Solos, and then after repainting them and giving them logo's, sold them on ebay...

I don't know much about the company history, or their current status, but as far as I am aware bus-wise they only own 2x Rohill's and 1x Merc Benz 709D. They mainly specialise in council services, similar to the Merseyside "Dial-a-link/Merseylink"

Didn't WCM win the 194X/195X for Christmas Day 2012 too (at least according to the original timetable) but this was later changed to Stagecoach?
wcm have the contract for the 20/20a mudishaw to runcorn high street monday to saturday evenings
They did at one point have the Evening & Sunday 110 Widnes - Warrington. They had the service at the time of Halton's centenary and I recall a Merc running with a Rohill running as a duplicate.
