There is already a 23 isn't there, Gillmoss to City Centre.
The 22/23 are being withdrawn on same date (see new 20/21 timetable for details).
That is something I didn't know, probably because I haven't looked at the timetables.

To signify it's fast?

Shame to see them go as they are well used. Could do with some sort of replacement for the E11 as Ravenhead Retail Park is quite a way from other routes and I think Merseytravel should put the 135 back to every hour (currently 5 journeys per day) as a part-replacement to Morrisons.
Where these Smart eco services in St Helens funded with some special funds that Merseytravel no longer have available to them.
The original plan I think was to replace them with 6 Hybrids next year but someone posted on here a few days back that this order had been cancelled.
End of the Merseytravel Smart bus project then sadly, 12/07/1993 - 22/02/2014

Interestingly though, they'll be withdrawn almost exactly 20 years after the main L reg batch of Neoplans entered service, which was on 19/02/1994.
I wonder whether it'll be a prompt for Arriva to re-route a service through Ravenhead (and the Linkway Tesco?) again now that they face no competition from a free service... Particularly if a link to Tesco was introduced, I could see that being a viable proposition.
