now the 79 runs to halewood even though it goes a different route basicly runs the 78 route so its not a big loss.
Nice to see the demand for the 883 has moved them to add more journeys
Yes but what about people in Hunts Cross, Gateacre and Woolton? The 79 is useless to them and even so the 78 still helps take some of the congestion round Woolton when the school kids are on the 75 etc.

Maybe one day someone else will operate the 75 and/or 78 as well as Arriva! The best time for the 78 (frequency wise) was around 2003-5 when Arriva operated a 15 min daytime frequency and GTL also ran it every 30 (or was it 20?) mins!

Hmmmm... That was probably why, im sure they'd make a profit on some sort of Hunts Cross/ Halewood route now though what with the 75s being so crowded.

I hope that happens! I remember when the 75/35 was run by about 4 or 5 operators in the late 90s/ early 00s and the frequency was mad, ever 4 mins or something I remember! But back then there was the 72, 73, 217 and stuff as well! I wish they'd bring back the 72, twas a good route.
I may be fussy when it comes to the way Merseytravel put the service changes into the press domain these days .

I much preferred the way that the four areas of merseyside where split up when it came to service changes . Liverpool , Southport , St Helens , Southport and wirral always had a more tidy feel.

Im not a fan of the all the service changes appearing together its very confusing , specially if there is changes to services on both sides of the river with the same number , not much of a problem with arriva , but more of a problem with some merseytravel services.

Why change something that wasnt broken.
It might be, in part, as previously they were published in separate local free newspapers (such as the South Liverpool Merseymart, North Liverpool Star etc) and as they are no longer printed, all of Merseyside get the same Merseymart inside Tuesday's Echo (I think the info also goes in the Metro paper too, again for the whole of Merseyside) so that could be why they just publish the single update nowadays.
The updates are usually in Wednesday's edition of the Metro.
