Interesting route 801 being withdrawn altogether, likewise 272/273 evenings/Sundays.

835 being operated by Maghull Coaches is a new one! - Is this Maghull's first 'normal' (as in not schools!) contract they've operated?

To confirm the contract changes 201 is currently Eazibus, 801 is currently Halton Transport, 272/273 eves/Sundays are currently Eazibus and 835 is currently Ace Travel.

Interestingly too on the 201 timetable the services towards Speke now correctly show Morrisons as the terminus however the services towards the Royal Hospital are still shown as starting at Eastern Avenue!

As the driver I had a few weeks back said, there's only one reason you'd travel from the hospital to Springwood Cemetery ... and in that case you'd probably get a hearse.
The only other passengers on the bus when I got it (all two of them) only caught it because it came a couple of minutes earlier than the bus they'd intended to catch, and was also heading towards the local shops!
So unless anyone knows differently, it seems to me like it was a waste of the council's money offering that service on contract.

As for the 86's, all these letters are immensely confusing to an outsider like me.
I understand the 86 and the 86a, but when there are also 86c, 86d and 86e, along with variations between Arriva and Stagecoach services as shown on the route map, it's a bit much! Different numbers please!
However, the service as a whole does look very good, and from my limited experience this seems to be a QBP that actually works!
That is a fair point really, though I guess some may go to visit graves etc which might explain why it is Sunday only. A little off topic, but did the 801 ever run on any other days or has it always been Sunday only?

The one time I rode it, a few years back, was a bit like your example above however, traveling from Asda on Smithdown Road to Woolworths Allerton Road as it arrived before the 86 did, however as an enthusiast I was quite glad to ride that route anyway as it was, and remains, my one and only ride on it!

A couple of months late too, I've just noticed a new version of the Wirral Area Public Transport Map was out in July. I really like these maps as they are useful to work out how you can transfer between services though in some cases it can be difficult to work out which services go where on busy sections!
