When this contract is over where are these double deckers off to.
Probably to cover the Moorfields closure. That starts mid April and is the Wirral platform first followed by each Northern platform one at a time. Looking at up to a year in total so a good contract!

Again, they may be useful in Moorfields for a couple of weeks, but then will no doubt be surplus to requirements. Surely there is some sort of environmental conscience from whoever is contracting out specifying deckers, or whoever is choosing to allocate deckers to this; such a waste of resources in more ways than one.
The 1st part of the Moorfields work from April to June is the closure of the Wirral line platform only. Wirral Line trains are not calling (obvs) and there is no requirement for buses.

A bus link would be needed to get those changing from northern line to Wirral line for lime street main line.. Iirc the bus link is needed as although an easy walk for many, they need an alternate link in place as they cant leave the vulnerable, ie children, pensioners and the disabled and ask them to walk across the city

Indeed - noted on the latest fleetcard as moving permanantly to MY&SL rather than just a loan. One would assume this means Merseyside are in charge of arranging disposal.
Speaking of disposals - 16237 and 16654 have been sold to Ensign.

Dart SF04VTC on route 2 to Chester today.

Was on the 2 yesterday as well. Lets see if it lasts the week on the Liverpools.

Given the amount of 25-30 year old trains running round on red diesel, the Rail industry is hardly in a position to lecture on "environmental" matters. Besides, how much greener would a 12 year old single-decker be, than an ALX400. If emissions was a consideration, then the age or engine type (eg. Euro 4/5/6) would be more reelevant than the number of decks.
It's not just emissions; fuel consumption must also be a considerstion? While the fuel consumption between a single and double deck may not be substantial, surely the difference between a Solo and an ALX400 is more considerable.
It appears that Stagecoach have aqquired land on Parkgate Road in Chester as an overflow. They reckon it will hold 30 buses. They will be keeping the site at the fountains roundabout for the engineering and maintenance. Stagecoach officials were at the land today making plans.
