This is a 'meritocracy' where a select group of people decide which contributions have merit according to their own no doubt superior whims.
That is not the case -
all members of this forum have a valid opinion
After all the world would be a very boring place if everyone's opinions were the same
(01/03/2018 22:15)Brickmill Wrote: [ -> ]Nearly missed this amongst the route debate. Is this Chester or Rock Ferry receiving 18002 & 19034 and at the risk of being pedantic, if Chester, is it literally 6 months (or more) that 18002 has been away. I ask because I was in Chester in early September (before I joined this forum) and just before walking up to the depot around 1330, I saw an u/id ALX heading southbound along the dual carriageway outside the Interchange. About an hour or 90 minutes later, it headed back up the dual carriageway towards the depot, but with a large number of passengers - most of which looked like senior citizens. The only thing I can remember about the bus was a larger than normal yellow "school bus" sign in the rear window. Was this 18002 or a Trident from another MSL depot?
I would imagine Chester has received these as 19070's engine has given up and 19046 is under repair!
Apologies if I've missed it, but what (if anything) will be replacing service 1 along Mill Lane/Heath Road in Upton?
I don't suppose a reincarnation of the C40 is on the cards?

That's good to hear!
I know that some members of the forum only like discussion about certain topics to do with our hobby, e.g. fleet changes, vehicle transfers etc. but some of us are interested in things like potential route changes, even if sometimes it is a bit idealistic.
I myself couldn't really care less if someone believes that fleet number 32964 needs its gears seeing to, engine upgrading etc, but they're welcome to post about it, and it's good if members can use this space to discuss any aspect of this wide-ranging hobby that they are interested in.
Wonder how long it will be before new deckers appear on the 1 after 22 April

Most likely the 2? The obvious solution is to swap the 1 and 2 routes between Rake Lane and Chester.

No as that would then mean the 2 goes via Chester Zoo and the zoo needs the higher frequency of every 20 minutes. I think the council may call on Arrowebrook to change their 26 to cover Mill Lane and just 'swap' the routes over. Obviously the 26 currently uses Upton Lane so it would be useless both routes going that way.
I think that is the most likely outcome for it all. Mill Lane does make Stagecoach a bit of money but I think the major stops along the route, people will just walk. Like Bache station, people will go to Countess/Hand Car wash stops. Wheatsheaf passengers will just walk to the new wheatsheaf stop. That is about all. The other stops are just occasional passengers.
(01/03/2018 22:20)iMarkeh Wrote: [ -> ]Well, if you read what I said properly, I was suggesting removing the X8 from the Zoo and so extending the 1 would act only as a replacement for Chester station - Chester Zoo passengers. It wasn't meant to serve any other markets. Merely only a suggestion to ease suggestion of removing the X8 from Chester Zoo.
I do think Capenhurst would be a good stop. there is even a somewhat turning circle near Capenhurst Train Station. Bit tight in it's current form but remove that kerby bit and that could be a bus stop. And bus down the A41 from Hooton into Chester (whether the bus starts at Hooton or is extended north, it is irrelevant) as journey times using public transport from Little Sutton and Great Sutton into Chester are very high compared to that of driving. Extending into Capenhurst is only needed at shift times and would be useless at any other time. The village is too small. Maybe compromise and stop in the Wirral 100 lay-by and turn around there back to the lights.
Service 2 I think does well with 'through' passengers. Passengers around Bebbington and Tranmere I think appreciate and do use the 2 through to Liverpool. Cutting it would affect those numbers and would basically mean the 2 is useless north of Port Sunlight as the 38 already operates.
Now obviously as no body on these forums is allowed an opinion, I will end here. I wouldn't want anyone to get their knickers in a twist over other peoples OPINION.
The combined 2 and 38 between Bebington Station and Birkenhead does a decent trade during the daytime so i wouldnt want to see that removed also , the early evening service that happens Monday to Friday doesnt get as many passengers and should finish around the same time as the Saturday service on the 2

Are you volunteering a withdrawal of a bus service? I'm sure the passengers that do use it might disagree.

I been informed 1 will still do flag lane then turing right down the 'Double Decker Route' to the frog and same on return so at a guess I suspect Arrowebrook 26 will divert past bache station eg switch routes but I dont know if im honest
