With these changes Stagecoach seem to have reassessed where there was room for investment and looked again and withdrew from areas where there was over provision of services
Lets see how long before the 22 gets the cut again , i see that as a Heswall - Chester service to honest .
What are Merseytravel going to do with the 80/82 , isurely they will have to be revised alongside the changes upcoming.
True. The 22 will probably get cut down to Heswall, however surely if that happens Merseytravel have to step in.
In regards to them running out of money, I acknowledge austerity has crippled their budget, but pardon my naivety, but isn’t the idea of the metro Mayor to boost our public transport network in the Liverpool city region? Because so far since the role was introduced all we’ve had is cuts to services. Apparently austerity is coming to an end, which if it does (I’m skeptical) is good merseytravel pull their finger out and reinstate some of the lost services which have disappeared over the last decade
It’s shameful Beechwood and Noctorum have no evening or Sunday service whatsoever. Surely there’s a market for a Sunday daytime commercial service if there is no money to fund a tendered one, Avon’s 492/495 always looked packed whenever I seen them Sunday daytimes. Evenings less busy, so unlikely to be enough for a commercial operation but enough patronage to warrant a tendered service, rather than the useless Moreton circulars
Also the changes to the 22 will leave West Kirby and surrounding areas without a link to Arrowe Park whatsoever. This has to be looked at. Perhaps the 80/82 could do some sort of circular from West Kirby to Arrowe Park via Caldy, Thurstaston, Irby, Arrowe Park and Greasby

Perhaps its a marketing trick to make passengers think it's a quicker service. If you look across the water it's a similar thing. The X2 to Preston observes all stops between Liverpool and Southport. The X3 to Kirkby observes all stops apart from two early morning journeys that run non-stop from Lower Lane to the Industrial Estate via the East Lancs Road. And the X5 to Widnes observes all stops between Vineyard Street (just before New Mersey Retail Park) and Widnes

Limited stop between Brombourough and Liverpool
Consultation feedback now on Merseytravel's website

My reading is that the only part of the X1 route that will be all stops is the part between Ellesmere Port & Eastham. Granted, that’s a fair stretch, but the route either side of that will still be limited stop.

Going off topic slightly, words been going round that thanks to the efforts of the local MP Frank Field, Arriva have agreed to extend Monday-Saturday operating hours till around 9pm and introduce an hourly Sunday service operating between 10am and 5pm
How many vehicles are used on the 80 and 82 ?

1. They should increase it to 2 so there’s more to play with. Save money elsewhere. Like the Moreton circulars in the evening!
