Yes that right, you won't missing to see the Stagecoach Depot and clearly to see it, if you heading to Birkenhead/Liverpool on right side or heading to Bromborough on left side. Hope the Helps.
The service 1 , 2 , 41 and 42 all pass the depot on New Chester Road.

Having looked at the place with google maps it may be a little difficult to get fleet numbers on anything other than the outside buses of the buses in the open yard. Is it possible to walk around the perimeter or are there fences in the way? Has it changed at all for access since Stagecoach took over? What are the chances of getting permission from the Garage Manager to go into the yard / garage to write numbers down by just turning up in a hi-viz vest?

I know some enthusiasts who contacted the depot and organised a simple visit to take some photos on a Sunday so contacting them is probably the best bet. It has however also been known for staff to let people in for a look on Sunday simply by turning up and asking, however it depends whats happening and who is or isnt there!
You can chance turning up on a Sunday when its quiet with a high vis and asking, however contacting them in advance is probably the best bet.
My brother has succeeded on multiple occasions by turning up and asking, and also by writing in advance at both Gillmoss and Birkenhead garages.
HTH.
No you only have good access from one side. But if you are able go in the afternoon and stand outside as the school services go out - that way you'll get more.
If your planning on visiting Rock Ferry your best going on a Saturday or maybe Sunday when most of the Schools stuff is in, I visited with a friend of mine a couple of months ago on a Saturday and we went to Reception and asked and we were allowed round no problem, in fact we struck lucky as the person on the desk who we asked was able to give us quite a bit of information of what was happening on the day vehicle wise and what was out where, but like has already been said it just depends who's on
Not sure if reported before but MPD 36072 is now at Chester, seen today on the 5.
RF had an Enviro out on Wirral schools both this afternoon and Wednesday.
