Has 24156 PO59 MWK had any engine changes or anything like that at all? Just seen it go past me on the 86 and it did not sound like a MAN Enviro300 at all. Sounded like a completely different bus.

24156 has a Cummins in it after the original MAN engine blew up if anything it’s more like an SB200 than a E30D Enviro300

24156 & 24180 have been rebuilt with Euro5 Cummins engines

24174 has been rebuilt with a Euro6 Cummins engine
15599 was broken down at James Street and being prepared for towing by Recovery North West.
Latest repaint into the new livery is MAN 24173 meaning that there are no 'blue' beachball livery buses remaining as both 24172 & 24173 are now repainted. Bonus fact though, 24155 was briefly also in the blue beachball livery but it was altered without ever going into service into normal beachball livery.

Surprise repaint (or rubbed down for repaint!) is Solo 47328 while MAN 24128 is also rubbed down for paint.

Was Beachball supposed to be some experimental version of a new livery but this never became a mainstream tradition?

The blue beachball version was meant to be as a paintshop spare livery. As I understand the idea that the buses in that livery, 24172 & 24173 would be allocated to the paintshop (I assume at Rock Ferry?) and as buses from each depot came in for their own normal repaints they'd send those two out to cover at the other depots.

This never happened though as planned but I have been told by fitters at Gillmoss that that was the plan. Why it required a different livery though I really don't know - I did like it though, it is a shame both have been repainted.

The paint was bought as a base for an all-over advert contract that fell through I believe - so the decision was to repurpose it for paintshop vehicles.

I didn't know that but interesting - shame they've been repainted anyway as it was quite a nice livery

All the Tridents and Darts that went on loan to Chester are now back at Gillmoss, all officially in reserve but the Darts do still get used as staff buses.

MAN 24128 is now back from repaint, next to get done is 24125. Solo 47328 is still being painted but should be out soon hopefully.
