Think you have summed it up Ste tbh. Though most routes stagecoach picked up from the GTL takeover were predominantly double deck, shoddy but worth while as many people were moved , the 20/21 seem to empty around Fazakerley however as Reece & Michael have said - there should be more deckers & that's in my view too. From both companies. Though at least Stagecoach are willing to invest in Large single deck vehicles though IMO it would be good if some 55/06 plate Darts were moved around and something bigger came in one day, it's just a shame to think we may have seen doubles if it wasn't for idiots vandalising them
Paper allocation for the Tridents is 2 on 82/86, and 5 on 86C, with 2 spare. This is just how it should be ON PAPER, they can allocate them differently if they feel it is better to.

Back to the double decker debate, again, full buses in peaks don't always mean the service is profitable enough to justify the cost of a double decker. Using 53 as an example (because it is a recently mentioned route), there are 63 trips in a day, Monday to Friday, between Queen Square and Crosby. For arguments sake, let's say 10 of those each day are main peak runs, and take £80 each (just a random number for explanation purposes). If the other runs take on average £30 each, you'll have the route taking on average £2390 in a day. That is then averaged out over the number of buses on the route, to give an average taking per bus of £239 for the day (PVR 10 for 53). Per run, there'd be an average taking of £38. For arguments sake, say £10 of that goes to the drivers wages (an hour each direction to keep it simple for explanation), the bus could use £10 of diesel, leaving £18 per run to go towards engineering costs (including cleaning staff and equipment), administration costs, utility bills in the depot, vehicle tax and insurance, bus station fees (operators have to pay departure charges for each run to use a bus station) and other operational costs.

I don't know what the routes actually take, and even if I did it wouldn't be posted in the public domain as it is commercially sensitive information, but hopefully that helps people on here to understand more about the figures. The more money on average that a route takes, the more there is after the "deductions" to fund more expensive larger/newer vehicles. Figures can be affected by the number of journeys passengers make with megariders.

[NOTE: All figures are for explanation purposes only and do not reflect the status of any services]
Yet if you have double deckers on some routes say the 20/21 particularly on a Sunday when there is only 1 of each a hour, the route could take more passengers rather than driving past with a full load.
Hi
Im popping up Gillmoss tommorow for a few pics does anyone know if these loan buses have arrived yet that where mentioned a couple of pages back
Liberator R873 LHG (21073) was unusually on the 14 this evening; also, Renown S451 KCW (21110) was unusually on the 20.
Does anyone know whether the evening 17 extensions are allocated a particular type of vehicle only reason why I ask is that I caught 19:35 Kirkby Civic-Liverpool service on Friday night and there was quite of variety of vehicles working the 17 service from what I saw, I had a Volvo B10L Wright Liberator on 19:35 but other workings from what I saw were the following:

1x Wright Crusader Dart
1x Plaxton SPD
1x Plaxton SLF Dart

Just seem to be a nice varied mix of vehicles out Friday night, didnt see any Enviros out on the service though
well the 17/19 interchange if that helps you mate

The evening/sunday service nearly always used to operated by 53/55/06 plate darts, however with these covering the enviro 300's on QBP routes a varied allocation can be expected for now.
Still no sign of these extra buses
They aren't with you yet...
