I wouldn't necessarily say GM had been left behind as there has been a constant stream of new buses over the years, but in terms of deckers they certainly have been, basically left with older tridents whilst Rock Ferry have much newer deckers. I don't wish to get into the argument about whether GM should get more deckers as we will end up going round in circles like we always do on this matter.
Cheers to A friend on Facebook the first Enviro300 has arrived on the depot being ... 27886 PE13LTA

Well a trip to Volvo costing several ££££ every time a B7TL throws up a fault code does tend to concentrate minds....
A lot of excuses, passengers of Liverpool should be treated better than they are currently. That's all I'm saying.
You're entitled to your opinion, but I feel you're oversimplfying the situation on Stagecoach's part.

If things were that bad, then customers always have the option of voting with their feet.
They do but under a QBP whereby the profit share is equal (at the least that's my understanding), it's largely irrelevant which vehicle passengers choose to board.

You're the complete opposite though, you seem to defend everything Stagecoach Merseyside do without seemingly ever have used their routes. For the record, many passengers still to this day choose Arriva over Stagecoach on the 82 and 86 and when it comes to the 20/21 they simply don't have a choice.

As for passengers voting with their feet, the end goal for all these companies is to make profit regardless of what passengers think. There is many instances of this just locally so it's not just Stagecoach.

And one of the reasons people choose arriva over stagecoach on 82/86 is the capacity issue, why get on a cramped dart when you can get on the the gemini or B7TL that may be behind and have more comfort.

I'm not defending them, I'm merely pointing out that there is more to their world than just Merseyside. My perspective on things is mainly through the 'back room', and will of course be different to yours from 'front of house'
It is ludicrous to suggest that a passenger would automatically use Arriva because they use a double decker then that of stagecoach. Stagecoach do use deckers on the 82/86 when one is inter-working or Spare.

I know for a fact a lot of people would use Stagecoach as their fares are cheaper than Arriva across the board, from child singles to adult weekly tickets. and for the fact that a VDL DB300 is supposed to only carry 1 buggy/wheelchair when a dart/enviro 300 can carry 2.
Stagecoach Dart's and Enviro 300's also have more level-floor seating allowing for more elderly passengers to be satisfied (Not the case with the MAN versions), This can often be observed with the Halton 14 and Arriva 79 when two pull into the same stop together.
Not forgetting that some people genuinely don't care if they are standing or seated, they just want to get home as fast as possible.
