I am presuming that TPE will be stopping at a few key stations with the diverted Scarborough service.

The Lime Street to Victoria service will be diverted to Piccadilly and joined on to the Manchester-Crewe via Airport service.

TPE will take over the semi-fast path on Chat Moss from Northern and Northern will take over the semi-fast path from TPE on the CLC. This will mean the Liverpool to Scarborough service will be diverted via St Helens Junction and the Liverpool to Airport semi-fast will be diverted via Warrington. TPE have now said Liverpool-Edinburgh via York will call at St Helens Junction but Newton-le-Willows will be served by Liverpool-Scarborough (originally it was envisaged Liverpool-Edinburgh would run non-stop on Chat Moss.)
So effectively it's a boost for Chat Moss stations as there will also be the new Northern Chester - Leeds service serving stations East of Earlestown. I presume the Scarborough service will serve 3 intermediate stops (as per the present service and as per the present Northern Airport service).

No it's not that straight forward.

May 2018:
St Helens Junction will get a call on Liverpool-Newcastle (which will later be extended to Edinburgh)
Newton-le-Willows will get calls on Liverpool-Scarborough and Chester-Leeds
The Liverpool-Blackpool service will make an additional call at Wavertree Technology Park

December 2019:
A Calder Valley service will be extended to Liverpool as a 'Northern Connect' service. That will provide additional calls at some stations - Huyton is currently the only Chat Moss station which has been guaranteed a call.
New 3 day strike on Northern,8-10 July

156486 is now in the new Northern livery. Noted last night at Preston on a service to Manchester Airport.
319431 was noted on Allerton Depot on Monday evening with Northern decals.
319369 was on the 2140 PRE-LIV last night. The toilet was out of order with the doors open. This did not stop passengers of both sexes from using it!

Liverpool Lime St - Crewe via Manchester Airport does sound a good day out , sounds like the timetable changes coming up are going to be fascinating to watch.

Sounds like an improvement for some passengers .

Improvement on the current service for most but not the roughly half-hourly service promised in the Manchester direction.
Strike timetables now online: https://www.northernrailway.co.uk/industrial-action Very limited service on the Mid-Cheshire line - I expect the local buses might do better than normal.
