I was on 2710 (X956 DBT) on the 32A this morning and apart from the gearbox slipping in first (2710 always does it) everything seemed in good condition for a 16 year old bus

A bit of TLC and a seat refurb and they could last another few years.

Was behind 2714 today...sounds awful and chucking quite a bit of black smoke out of the exhaust

I think that's chucked black smoke out for a while, it'd fail an emissions test on an MOT. Maybe this il be the donor bus for spare parts if any do get preserved by other operators
Was it 2716 or 2717 that came here from Green Lane and it was just awful in every way?

2716 wasn't that great when it arrived at Green Lane either
2729 was on the 10 this evening.
Iknow I asked this question before Christmas but I don't think anyone's given an answer yet.
4615 & 4616 (originally SL64 JHH/JHJ) have been changed over. Is this similar to Halton's#15 & 16 where they checked the chassis numbers on an MOT or something like that and found the number plates were on the wrong ones?
Was it the plates that were changed over or the fleet numbers?

That does seem to be the only answer that would have any logical explanation behind it - and yet, prior to the change, it was 4615 (SL64 JHH) that had the distinctive black headlight surrounds, lack of yellow border on the centre panel, less-faded stickers on the lower nearside corner, nearside-positioned fleet number, and non-original "push in emergency" sticker on the forward leaf of the door. Now, it appears to be 4616 (SL64 JHH) that has all of those features. Which tends to suggest that the registrations have stayed on the same buses.
It seems far-fetched, but is it possible that somebody was told to "swap the numbers over" and misunderstood the instruction?
