You do wonder at what point after the launch we will see a vehicle that isn't Double deck on the 10/ 10A from Arriva .

Probably on the first day, it happened on 10B's, there is bound to be some of teething problem with at least one new bus.
You would think that the spare double decker would just be for use on the 10/10A on the first day especially on such a high profile service . The 10B introduction was different as everybody had actually thought they would have been introduced at the same time in February for that route , think it surprised a few of us that it happened so soon , Arriva must have known what they was doing .
Don't be surprised though if they turn up on any St Helens route which doesn't have a low bridge. I think it's only 36/36A, every other route is a possibility and definitely on a Sunday, whereas now everything is Pulsar, quite a few may well be deckers after the 1st Feb.
It was always anticipated that the 10B Enviro400s would go into service in January as far as I'm aware. Most of us did expect the exact date to be once the 10B timetable is revised on the 11th January, but it makes no sense to have brand new and serviceable buses sitting in the depot when the extra capacity they offer is needed now.
With the 10/10A examples, on Sundays it would certainly make sense to use them on the 89, and if the two spares on weekdays are going to be used, then the 89 is probably the best place for them. I'm not sure there are too many other routes from St Helens in need of deckers.
352/395s could probably justify use of any spare deckers at certain times of the day just as much as the 89s I'd say.
The only other route they cant go on is the 32A due to a low bridge on the other side of ridgewood drive but I've been told the spares could end up on other routes.
