As I've mentioned previously elsewhere, Thornton's are a quality outfit who have been doing refurbishment work for Go North East since 2009 along with First Group since 2011 and Arriva North East since 2012. It also now started picking up refurbishment contracts for mid-life London refurbishment.
Indeed, and 4206 looks identical to 4207 as well: same livery style, same yellow handrails. I haven't seen inside it but assuming it is also only a part refurbishment, surely they were both done at the same place?
Thornton's have done a superb job of the interiors, but it has to be said, their external repaints of the VLWs leave a lot to be desired. The yellow stripe on the front end looks really silly.
Regarding 4206, not sure if anyone else has noticed but the roof has not been painted. It is still white and I think you can still see the VLW number.
Beleive me 4207 was done else where as i could be wrong but it could of been done in bus and coach world in blackburn but i can say is it wasnt done in house at st helens as im based at st helens depot and the interior mods on the disabled bays/pram bays on 4206 is slightly done different than 4207.
Regarding an earlier post, the 10 and 10A require a total of 23 buses from my calculations (10 = 10, 10A = 13). This would make the suggested number of 19 deckers insufficient to cover the PVR. Given the trend of Arriva's orders to slightly exceed the PVR of the prospective route, I would suggest 25 is a likely number of deckers to be ordered, should this in fact have happened.
23 is the number i heard mentioned on how many deckers would be for st helens but unsure about spares numbers.
I've heard figures ranging from 17 to 27 as regards this possible future decker order.
The one for "19" will be mis-informed information about the ADL Enviro 400's that were "unallocated", but are in fact for Speke's 86/86A > upgrade of service 81/A.
Many of the 'friends' who I currently have on facebook have noticed these 'ghostly apparitions' of Gemini's on the 10/10A, a sight rarer than seeing the loch ness monster since 2003!
There's 94 Enviro400s on order across Arriva for 2014. Subtracting all known orders so far...
94 ADL Enviro 400 - 68/94
6 Midlands (Derby) - service 38 SAPPHIRE
10 Midlands (Tamworth) - service 110 SAPPHIRE
10 Midlands (South Wigston) - service 47/48
5 North East (Ashington) - service X18 MAX
7 North East (Ashington) - service X21/X22 SAPPHIRE
9 North West (Southport) - service 375/385
19 North West (Speke) -
2 Shires (Aylesbury) - service 280 SAPPHIRE
...you're left with 26 which is about right for an upgrade of the 10/10A, so 507009 was close with his estimate!
There are 20 Enviro400s due for Rhyl which are not shown in that list. This would leave just 6 to be accounted for, which puts to bed any idea of the 10/10A being upgraded this year.
The supposed 10/A enviro 400's would be a part of the 2015 order. The 2014 order was placed last year and SH was not a part of it
