I find it strange that they have 4 in service and the usual allocation involves 3 on the 38 and one on the John Deanes and Handforth Dean contracts. The latter does result in a new bus doing relatively low mileage each day. I would have thought there would be greater benefit for a new vehicle doing high daily mileage and an older (less efficient) vehicle doing low mileage.
574 now showing on bustimes as in "D&G new" along with 91 and 149 - presume Centrebus style rear end?

It should be GoNorthEast that it reminds you of.

I've never lived in the North East and haven't been there for around 20 years, unless you count Whitby and the North Yorks Moors as North East. I remember seeing buses in blue and red North Western livery in the 1990s. Some of those routes are now operated by D&G, so it will be a return to blue and red on those.
Another of the ex cardiff MMCs 572 is back in service again. According to a member of depot staff at crewe I know 570/571/572 are all to be operated by macc.

Although 572 has already been nicked by wincham but no doubt it'll find it's way back again.

All the vehicles at Wincham now get serviced at Macclesfield, so there's swaps between the two happening on a weekly basis. The ex-Cardiff buses and the long Enviros are the only ones that don't usually seem to end up at either. Even then occasionally Macclesfield has held on to a long Enviro and used it for some services before returning it.

It could be D&G plan to occasionally let vehicles stray off their usual routes, so that they can compare the difference in fuel economy.
What Depots do D&G operate these days?

Adderley Green and Crewe are the big two, as has been the case for a long time. They additionally took on Macclesfield from Arriva and undertake servicing there, I think Arriva did it all at Winsford. Wincham has become an outstation of Macclesfield, rather than an outstation of Crewe, and some work has moved out of Wincham to other depots. For instance, the 130 and 312 now operate from Macclesfield.
