I saw 122 on it yesterday

I've said elsewhere that their going to need decent capacity vehicles and not Solos or small Enviro200s.
For anyone who missed it when Arriva put single deckers on the 37 around school starting time they leave passengers behind.

316, 317 and 319 to only operate on selected days of week from 1st April as part of Cheshire East budget cuts.
The 188 seems to remain, despite objections it duplicates the 88 and local train service and makes the 88/89 less attractive for prospective passengers who would be paying full adult fares.

The 188 serves areas the 88 and 89 don't though like some parts of Mobberley and making kids walk 1/2 a mile from the Train Station to the school, for a 3 minute train journey, to then have to walk down country lanes.
I am a strong believer of reducing school buses with more kids travelling on local services but the 188 does serve it's purpose. The only changes which could be made to the 188 is to have it serve the bus station so that normal members of the public can make use of the service.

The 188 did serve the bus station but there was no demand from the general public. People doing shopping trips don't want to travel into town at 8am and remain there until 3.30pm! While the 88 runs just ahead of it in the morning and just behind it in the afternoon.
There's no reason why there can't be a '88A' or similar with a slight route tweak to best suit the school demand. There's over 10 Knutsford Academy pupils who use the train from Mobberley despite the 188 existing.
EDIT: Just checked on distances. As Knutsford Academy is split over 2 sites and the 188 picks up from Lilac Avenue, some pupils have a 0.4 mile walk from the other site. The other site is 0.4 miles from the steps leading down from Toft Road to the station platforms. So for around 50% of pupils the station is just as close as the 188 bus stop. The only difference being getting the 188 bus stop doesn't involve crossing the A50.

At present D&G have Enviros 593 and 594, while High Peak have Solos 104 and 177. (177 going to High Peak as 106 returned).
If the 2 x Orange Solos are going to remain in Cheshire, they should probably lose their branding for the 1 route.
Enviro 200 YW68 PBU has joined the D&G Bus fleet.
D&G have confirmed they'll be providing the following services in response to Arriva closing Winsford and Macclesfield:
1 hourly. Interworked with the 82 to provide a half-hourly frequency between Rudheath and Greenbank.
10 half-hourly
12 Additional early journeys to Leighton added to existing timetable. Talks with council ongoing regarding evening services.
31 hourly
37 hourly
38 38 Additional early journeys added and timings revised. Talks with council ongoing regarding evening services.
84 details to be confirmed.
Total PVR for confirmed services - 12 vehicles.
Regarding the 84 it looks like D&G and Stagecoach will deffinatly be both doing the service, lets hope they can work together to provide a 30 min frequency between Chester and Nantwich not both running same timetable as be no logic in that
