YX11 CNE on 88 services today (it was also on the route yesterday.)
I am due to ride both routes 88 & 288 on the same day in October. I hope they prove to be different types on the day.

At present I think pretty much any day there's at least one Solo M880, one Solo M990 and one Enviro operating the 88 and 288 routes between them.

I'm not sure if D&G will even know what the usual bus types on both routes will be by October. 10.8m Enviros didn't appear on the 288 until they decided they weren't the best bus for the 82 and I don't know if the proposal to put the ex-Isle of Man Streetlites on the 82 and to move Versas over the 88 is still planned or if it's been dropped.

Thank you for your info concerning current vehicles and plans for these routes. I know to potentially make do with a duplicate vehicle type, or even just ride route 288 and not route 88 at this stage.
YX11 CNE (120) was a last minute substitution yesterday for the 17.15 88 to Macclesfield as when Solo 45 came in it had a rear puncture. Luckily 120 was parked in Knutsford instead of the car.

120 and Solo 134 were the Altrincham - Macclesfield buses today and Solos 49 and 129 were the Altrincham - Northwich buses.

At the moment the 288 is solid 10.8 metre Enviro200s and 88s are supposed to be Solos. However at least one bus working on 88s is often an Enviro200 if there is a shortage of Solos. 5 are required but often only 4 are available.

Yet there is an Enviro which starts the day at Wilmslow, goes to Knutsford, then to Altrincham on the 88 before switching to the 288, while a Solo does an early 288 run, then does an 88 run before going to the Handforth Dean shuttle. That's before taking in to account whether any other 288 services are worked by Solos or any other 88s are worked by Enviros.

Obviously evening and Sunday 88s which only go to Wilmslow are worked by the same bus as the one which works the 288.
49 being used to switch drivers over on the 82 earlier.
130 was the Knutsford driver shunt vehicle. However it worked 88s from 13.58 and 45 then became the shunt vehicle.

Noticed last night at around 19:45 an out-of-service Enviro arrived at Lostock crossroads and turned off to go towards Altrincham on the A556. Presumably the bus was going on to the 288/88 evening runs.
