There is currently only one shunt car at Wincham so the Knutsford crew relief vehicle is a bus. 155 doing the honours today.

Also Streetlite 155 turned up at Knutsford bus station just before 2pm.
Yes should please the drivers at Winchem that at long last the problems with the other shunt car (Astra) are being sorted.

From what I believe I'm surprised it was actually allowed on the road.
I'm presuming 53 broke down today (it only moved from Crewe yesterday.) It was shown as working the 12:45 Macclesfield to Knutsford, while 155 did the return working and got to Knutsford around 35 minutes late. It seems almost all of that late running was recovered between when it left Knutsford for Northwich and when it arrived back in Knutsford for the 17:35 Knutsford to Altrincham.

54 is back out again now, having taken over from 131 on an Altrincham to Macclesfield mid-journey at Knutsford.
53 broke down at 14.45 in Altrincham so that trip to Knutsford didn't run. The relief driver who should have taken it over in Knutsford for the 16.02 89 to Northwich took 155, which was the driver shunt bus. However he was himself late coming in with the 14.45 from Macclesfield as he had to fuel the bus (120) in Macclesfield. It obviously hadn't been fuelled last night.

There was a bus departing Longridge at almost 16:20 yesterday in the Knutsford direction (opposed to the scheduled 15:45) even though it doesn't appear on the tracking.

While 120 was 20 minutes late leaving Macc on the 14:45, it departed Knutsford for Altrincham at 15:37 (only 2 minutes late) so the driver off that service would have been at Knutsford around 50 minutes before 155 departed for Northwich on the 89. That would have been almost enough time to get the bus to Wilmslow direct non-stop and back via the 88 route. I don't know if that happened but the bus didn't drive itself!

Just looking now looks like 155 is on a late running 07:15 Northwich to Chester, despite 26 doing a positional move from Crewe to get to Northwich for that service, so possibly another breakdown.
The bus departing Longridge at 16.20 was 155. The driver who took over 120 on the 15.35 from Knutsford contacted the driver he relieved when he got to Wilmslow and hadnt passed the bus (53) that should make the 16.02 to Northwich. Reason being a regular passenger was waiting with her youngster at the Nursery on Manor Park who catches the bus to Tabley. So the driver of 155 went round that way looking for said passenger. before commencing his trip to Northwich. The driver while being in Knutsford for approx 50 mins bear in mind 30 mins is his legally required break. So he had his 30 mins, drove round Manor Park then logged on to commence the 89 to Northwich.

Sounds like a good job he did as that would have been the last bus towards Tabley.

I obviously didn't know when the driver had their breaks so the Wilmslow reference was really a suggestion that they could have probably got that far, rather than they did.

It looks like the 14:45 Macc to Knutsford skipped Over Peover which is why it managed to get from Macc to Knutsford in 29 minutes.
One of the 88s appeared to go via Congleton between Chelford and Macclesfield today. Nothing on social media feeds about the A537 being closed and that seemed an excessively long diversion even if it was, it would have been quicker to divert via Alderley Edge.
The A537 has been closed between Chelford and Monks Heath since Monday. Today was the last day. They have been letting the buses through though. The 88 that diverted was a Crewe driver unaware that he could travel through.

I had been looking for emergency road closures due to an accident given that was the only journey affected, rather than scheduled roadworks.
