ROUTE 1 First no info.
ROUTE 2 Arriva will run this every 40 minutes and first will run every 40 so combined 20 minute service
On a Everning & Sunday first will operate both 1 & 2 and will accept Arriva Bus Passes.
ROUTE 471
Towards Liverpool - First
Towards Heswall - Arriva
ROUTE 472
Towards Liverpool - Arriva
Towards Heswall & Barnston - First
ROUTE 171 & 172 withdrawn.
Arriva will operate all Everning & Sunday services and early Barnston Trips
On all above routes First & Arriva accept all Arriva Day Savery, Arriva Weekly Saver, FirstDAY and FirstWEEK tickets
If that is indeed the way it pans out then it would seem to me in terms of mileage operated First have very much come out on top on the Wirral QBPs. Half the Heswalls and the vast majority of the Chesters is not a bad result for them all things considered. This, of course, for a division that the doom mongers on here have written off for the past three years or more.
7633 Back in bootle, I saw it in Liverpool on route 311

I actually think you will find if the information is correct then First gains on the Chester service namely because of having depots on route and Arriva seem to have come out of Heswall better than when they started in the 1990's with Merseybus . Remember in Oct 1986
Merseybus didnt operate there the route 71A was given up to Crosville.
The real losers would appear to be the passengers. With the possible exception of the 71, it looks like less frequent service.

If you just look at the 472 was there ever a need for 6 buses an hour im sure there isnt the passengers on the section from Heswall to Thingwall Corner this an area of high car ownership.
If it subsequently is not working Merseytravel , Arriva and First will probably revisit it again.

It would seem that lower overall frequencies are in most parts the case but the obvious benefit which counteracts that for those who pay a fare or buy weekly tickets is that whereas previously they were tied to one operator's services they can now use either irrespective of whether it's a First or Arriva ticket. The daytime frequency might be less but certainly on the Liverpool QBPs there has been a more regular service outside these times thanks to co-ordination and the same inter-available tickets.

Mate who works at A2B who drives the 171/172 said A2B are longer operating the 171/172.
I do think this time his post is genuine, however that particular FM is notorious for posting that type of info claiming he heard from his mate/driver ecc, only for it to turn out to be false, so normally i'd be wary of those sort of posts from him.

That is correct but the flip side was that Crosville as was picked up the Mill Park services way back then. Not sure how what went on over 20 years ago is relevant here but assuming the Metrorider's source is correct First would seem to do better when one compares their current operations to those in a month's time.
