That doesn't on the face of it make sense to split the two unless they're upping the frequencies.

OK so looking at the timetables the 45 minute layover on the 174 makes no sense. Is there another part to this equation - withdrawal of the 166/7 to, from Banks Rd and interworking with the 174 of the remainder?

I think it links with the extended 181 (Leasowe-Arrowe Park-Heswall).
Why is it not 181 Leasowe - Heswall Lower Village (Riverbank Road )

Or is the 174 rerouting just experimental

The Arriva part of these routes (175 now goes to Heswall Lower Village Banks Road ) is the reason the 174 has had to be cut from this diagram.

Is there a real need for two services to Heswall Lower Village , this part of Heswall must have a very large proportion of car owners who arent usually bus users , does seem a bit of overkill .

maybe an attempt to get people out of cars & onto buses more
It would appear it's a day for MOT's at Birkenhead, with one of Avon Buses' MCV Evolutions getting prepped as well as a MAN 14.220/ELC Myllennium from Arriva bolton undergoing testing.
2426 is on 464 today.

I had a ride on 2418 on the 419 this morning, probably one of the best ex liverpool ones in the depot. Quite smooth, not too sluggish and sounded pretty much as it should from where I was sitting.

EDIT: I'm told the legal lettering reads Arriva Liverpool so it in fact appears this one is due for Bolton.

Looks like that was taken at the Wrightbus factory in Ballymena.

Makes me wonder when they'll arrive here.
I mean, they've got to get their Pre-Delivery Inspection, then they'll be on the ferry to Heysham Docks, then they'll be put through Driver Training.

Will they finally be on the road in March?
Because if they are, they'll get the 13-plateWink

Thats the idea, to get the first lot on the road for march. As far as I know theyre hoping to get at least 1 over asap to get the drivers trained up. That way by the time the first lot are delivered and geared up, theyll have the specific batch of signed up drivers trained up for them.

March still sounds about right judging by the latest news and updates Smile
In addition to 2426 on the 464, I also noted the following:

403/413 - 4422
407/471/472 - 3000
432/433/437 - 4141, 4143, 4204

Generally, the 59-plate Pulsars were having a busy day, with five on the 413, one on the 492/495 and another as above on the 407. Not one was seen on the 487 which as far as I've seen of late, had been mainly these. Looked to be all Cadets on the 487 today.

Speaking of Cadets, the contrast between 2416 and 2437 today was remarkable. A refurbished example with superb interior, smooth ride and good turn of speed meets a particularly tatty sister with a woeful ride. I hope 2437 receives some attention in the direction of its dreadful rattling problem soon. It seemed sluggish as well.

The 487 has been back to mainly Cadets for a few days now.

Although 2416 is tidier, performance wise its terrible. I had it on the 118/9 last week, even with the driver using the gears manually up Spital road hill and up gorsey lane off duke street it struggled to do anything above 20mph.

I did speak to the driver just before I got off, he did say its one of the worse ones, also said the power steering pump is on its way out and its probably the most sluggish after 2426! He did however credit it for having no warning lights on.

On another note regarding hybrids, hybrid training starts as of next monday (11th) iirc. 3 sessions per day, so presumably at least 1 hybrid is expected any day now.. I did nip into the depot at around 0030 this morning but nothing of interest to note.
