Marshall Dart 7648 was withdrawn after service yesterday. The first Marshall replacement is due to arrive on Sunday.
One thing I forgot to mention yesterday is that 4158 remains at Canning Road. Strangely, it was seen empty on Eastbank Street at 12.15 with Y37KNB directly in front of it. Both buses turned right onto Lord Street, with 4158 seen inside Southport depot later that afternoon. The Polaris, however, was nowhere to be seen. Not entirely sure what went on: did 4158 see temporary use at Bolton?

Could it be that two drivers travelled from Bolton to St Helens on 4158, one of them picked-up 2564 from there, both drove to Southport to drop-off 4158 and travelled back to Bolton on 2564?

'Course I don't mind! As far as I know, they will be 'X' reg Dart/Plaxtons probably in the X--- HJA series. These are only temporary as, by this time next year, all Darts will have gone from the ANW fleet.

2239 should be on it's way today, from a posting on Facebook by a couple of friends who have gone to WY to collect it.
HTH
Sampled a few more Southport Marshalls today, leaving just the elusive 7664 to ride. This has been in the same position within Canning Road for the last few days, so here's hoping it hasn't been withdrawn just yet.
Of today's rides, 7652 was a solid performer despite a squeak near the front of the bus. As always for the 7651-56 batch, it was very tidy internally and retained the vast majority of original glass. It's clear that 7651-56 take some beating. They're conditionally better than most and generally sound riders. The quality of 7654 and 7655 compared with almost all of those that were at Green Lane and formerly Skelmersdale is incredible. 7673, however, was entirely different: a bit of a shed with a bad idle vibration and rough ride.
Also went on the new kid on the block, 2239. I have to say, this is one of the better X-ANCs I have ridden: it's actually quite smooth. The downside though is the condition, significantly vandalised at the rear and looks out of place in Southport with its old livery and unrefurbished interior. A retrograde step really replacing Marshalls with these, age aside.
Plaxton Dart 2246 (X246 HJA) has now arrived at Southport, from Wythenshawe.
It was collected this morning and is another good example; fast and warm, with few rattles.
2252 is another one here. Due to be withdrawn imminently are at least 7643/55/64/73.
