Arriva have been doing stuff in the strand today for promoting the new deckers and new app. As for the launch, well these are just the same as the other deckers that have gone into service elsewhere recently so don't really see the big hoo-ha. ( Barry I'm not having a pop at you or your pictures in this By the way, nice pics by the way)
With thanks to the photo from GKA472L the registrations for 4621-36 should be as follows:

4621, 4623, 4624 and 4630 are out on the 52s today (didn't see the other two buses as there were delays at midday). The rest are in the depot, with 4636 already looking quite dirty!

One of the new Enviro 400'S has made it out on 60 this morning, couldn't quite make out which one though, I take it there are one or two spares left after 52's have gone out.

4629 out on them as well
Managed rides on 4621, 4630 and 4632 on their début yesterday and thought all three were great. Overall these buses are a big improvement on the Pulsars and in particular the heaters are fantastic. It was a nice gesture from Arriva to celebrate their arrival by offering free travel too, so kudos for that decision.

It really is remarkable the contrast between those three and the inexcusably dire 4401 which was on rail replacements on Sunday. This is surely Arriva's worst Enviro400 and I ended up bailing at Bootle New Strand feeling fit to throw up. The ride was terribly rough and crashy and the interior cold, smelly and complete with a questionable brown stain on one of the seats near the back. By comparison, 4429 offered a smoother, nipper ride and was much tidier internally. More what you would expect from a set of buses that are still only six years old.

Some of Bootle's older Enviro400s are clearly still good, but they appear to be getting rather few and far between. 4401 urgently needs an internal refurbishment, the heaters fixing and the body tightening in my opinion.
I really enjoyed the new Enviro400s yesterday as well and all of the drivers I had were informing passengers (some very surprised) that the 52/52A was free for the day. Excellent move from Arriva and I hope something similar happens for the launch of the 12/13 and 15 Enviro400s later in the year

I too rode on the new Enviro400s yesterday and welcomed free wifi and effective heating. One of the question marks against them is the relatively small engines that they have and it has been suggested that they will not cope the demands of a full load. The one I travelled on out of the city up Scotland Road went through the gears smoothly and showed an excellent turn of speed. Admittedly the bus was only half full but I am sure that they will be adequate for the rigours of the 52/52A.
