In fact it looks like all 310/311 are deckers today as just seen 4622 on 311.
I would imagine all the city centre services will have deckers on all weekend. Seems to be the way in a lot of Bootle weekend services these days anyway.
Aye, deckers in big demand today, leaving older single-deckers for RR work.

Interurban 2705 (X705 DBT) B10BLE/Renown is out today displaying 'RAIL REPLACEMENT MOORFIELDS STATION', whilst 2244 (X244 HJA) DartSLF/Pointer2 is displaying the unusual-sounding 'RAIL REPLACEMENT EXPRESS'
To be honest though Moorfields - Lime Street should always be single decker cant see the reason for double deckers.
The 54 also had deckers today which is unusual even for a weekend.

There were three new Enviro400s on the 310s/311s today out of the seven buses on there. 4429 was on 52A lates. 4426 was operating the shuttle service from Lime Street to the Sound City event. 4208 was on the 56 (which also had an all-decker allocation). 2224, 2234, 2244 and 2705 were on the Moorfields Merseyrail replacement service - 2224 and 2244 stayed out on lates!

4634 was on the 58 on Friday (IIRC)!

The other day one displayed 'Rail Replacement Liverpool Central' while another had 'Rail Replacement Bootle Oriel' even though it was on the Moorfields-Lime St shuttle.

Its obscene to see so many deckers taken out of service to basically just burn fuel for the the benefit of a handful of people each day. I don't see why people who desperately need Moorfields can't go on the Northern Line through Central - it'd no doubt be quicker.

The reason for the bus service is that with the Wirral line platform closed not to provide a rail replacement bus service of some form would mean that Network Rail would have to go through formal closure procedures , as this work is only temporary the bus service is the best option. That is the reasoning behind the bus services when each loop station has been closed as well.

Note though from what I have heard there will be no bus service when the Northern Line platforms get worked on .
You could run that Moorfields replacement bus with a black cab! Never seen more than 1 person on it ! Total waste of deckers.
It doesnt have to be a decker but as Arriva has an emergency rail replacement contract with Merseyrail , its useful to have double deckers on the road that can be swapped out quite easily if needed.
