(21/05/2013 22:02)First Class Wrote: [ -> ]The SO 07:53 Chester-Runcorn via Helsby service is starting again on Saturday.

Subject to some final checks, in mid-July, for one day only, this service will be revised and will run as follows:

Hooton
Little Sutton
Overpool
Ellesmere Port
Stanlow & Thornton
Ince & Elton
Helsby
Frodsham
Runcorn
Liverpool South Parkway

Is this the day the service normal gets extended beyond Runcorn ?

Yes, (although it is effectively cancelled at Chester on the 6th).

It will run on the 6th July 2013 only to mark the 150th anniversary of the Hooton-Helsby line.

Vintage bus back with activities at Ellesmere Port and Helsby.

Mandatory reservations and special fares apply.

Hi i was wondering what time it will leave hooton and what will be running it and do you have to book in advance???

Thanks in advanceSmile
Waiting for times to be confirmed by Network Rail.

I think tickets need to be booked with NCRUG. They'll certainly have more information anyway.

Should be a Class 150, which will be ultra rare at Hooton!
The Class 150 that normal does the service comes in connected to a Northern Service from Manchester Piccadilly and gets left behind at Chester , but for this service it will have to probably get to Hooton under its own steam pardon the pun.
On Saturdays 13 July and 20 July and also Monday 15 to Friday 19 July inclusive , Northern will institute a special hourly service between Ormskirk - Preston - Blackpool North , please Note NO Sunday service though.

An hourly service im not sure of the implications on the Ormskirk how a hourly service will work , literally looks like there will always be a train on the Ormskirk branch .

This is due to Engineering work taking place between Warrington Bank Quay , Wigan and Preston.

Could this be it? Although it shows starting at Helsby.

presume that the temporarily hourly Ormskirk - Blackpool North train will be a Class 150?

Some of it, by the looks of it.

2Z11 does 09:42 Liverpool L St to Helsby Plat 1 10:29 [via Warrington BQ]

It must go somewhere after that, presumably to stable in Chester, because it can't just sit in Plat 1, as it is the mainline.

2Z14 then appears later from nowhere, working 13:32 Helsby Plat 4 to Liverpool L st [via Runcorn].

I imagine 2Z12 and 2Z13 are missing, which may fill some gaps.

It could be a 142, 150 or 156 - also as the stations on the Ormskirk line can take 3 coaches there is a chance a 153 could be attached as it will be busy - passengers from Blackpool/Preston and the North for Liverpool could prefer to use the Ormskirk service rather than one (or two) replacement buses and then a train from St Helens
With reference to the Liverpool - Hooton service there is no 2Z12 or 2Z13.

2Z01 1035 Helsby - Hooton
2Z02 1137 Hooton - Helsby
2Z03 1210 Helsby - Hooton
2Z04 1307 Hooton - Helsby

Fills the gaps .
