Not sure what the problem was but 142055+142084 have only just got on the move in the last hour running as a special 5T56 Thatto Heath-Liverpool via St Helens Central

Don't know what the problem was myself, but must have been serious, it was the 1201 Lime St to Wigan that failed!
The wheel lathe at Allerton Depot has been re-opened by Northern after many years out of use.
Two of Heatons Class 156 were working in the area today. 156469 was on the 1437 Blaclpool North to Liverpool South Parkway, whilst 156481 (+156468) were on the 1522 Warrington Bank Quay to Liverpool Lime Street.
The 1416 LIV-WBQ and 1522 return is booked for a pair of units. Last Tuesday it was 156468 + 156481, whilst today it was 142041 and 142061. The next working for the units is 1631 LIV-WGN.

No they are not, they just very rarely turn up.

Its not that the 142's are banned but that the 156's are a vehicle better suited to the work , these days 142's are more centred around urban areas.
