Those buses have been purchased specifically for Manchester as the result of a multi-million pound government green bus grant, so they have to remain in Manchester, unlike most buses which operators can move to other areas.

Arriva will take on 98 new trains, 17 cascaded trains from GWR, 3 from LM, 29 from Scotrail and 12 from Thameslink while they will return 25 electric trains to the leasing companies which will be used by other operators, as well as 119 diesel trains to the leasing companies - most of those are Pacers but some of those could still be used by other operators before being scrapped. That's a lot of train paint required even if the units transferring from Northern weren't being touched.
Northern Rail services are being replaced by buses between Crewe - Sandbach due to signalling problems which look like they are reducing the headway on the line . Arriva Trains Wales services using the line are still operating.
Well it seems Northern's final day of the franchise has been plagued with 319 failures! One at Roby and one on the south parkway to Preston run too.

Argh, that would account for the 1530 Preston - LSP being off this afternoon then.
So Arriva will have a fight on there hands to get these units availability up .
I don't hold out much hope given their efforts with the 175s.
The Class 319 seems to be liability wherever it rears its head .

There like the saying three fine days and a thunderstorm.
