Indeed, in that Route One article Ascendal even admit to seeing opportunities in Merseyside and Wales with the prospects of franchising.
Hattons will take over the 239 from April another route gone for Cumfybus.
The 838 will also be getting taken off Cumfybus, this is from 22nd April.

PeoplesBus will be taking over the running of the route.
From April:

Services 121/214/215, 135, 245/246/247, 827, 870 transferred to Huyton Travel.
Services 239, 297 transferred to Hattons
Service 838 transferred to Peoplesbus

Think thats everything gone from Aintree apart from the School routes

Slowly getting rid of all tenders outside of Southport.
Just going off bustimes, the only schools that would be running from Aintree presently are the 722/781, are they really likely to keep an entire depot open for this? It runs using one bus so if it is retained and Aintree is to go then I would assume its easier to just run it with the dead miles from Southport anyway. They have been clearing out recently too with at least EH06UNY, MX08DHG and an unidentified hybrid Solo and small Solo SR all having left in recent times.

Isn't the Aintree depot also an authorised VOSA test centre?

Are they losing interest in routine tenders and focussing just on School work now?

The 15/15A and the 40 are still tendered routes within Southport but these are the only routine tenders left bar the numerous school tenders within Southport.
